Rapid Car Scrapping is an Environmentally Conscious company. Ensuring that we dispose of vehicles in a safe and environmentally friendly manner, minimising the impact to the environment is of the utmost importance to us.
There are strict UK and European Regulations for the disposal of scrap vehicles, and as an Approved and Registered Scrap Car Disposal Specialist you can feel assured that scrapping your car with us will be an Eco Friendly decision. Our disposal processes are approved by the Department of The Environment. In excess of 2 million cars require scrapping each year in the UK – and it goes without saying that if these vehicles were not disposed of in a Safe and Eco Friendly way, the impact on the environment would be significant. The primary way to ensure that the impact to the environment is minimised is to Recycle and Re-Use as much of the vehicle and its fittings as possible. UK and European directives state that more than 85% of every scrapped vehicle should be Reused or Recycled. We regularly monitor the environmental performance of our operation in order to ensure that we meet the UK and EU car scrappage guidelines
7-Parts on the vehicle that can be recycled are removed including the tyres and wheels, and the vehicles then undergo the important stage of draining their fluids, which may include the fuel, petrol and diesel or LPG, oil, coolants and gases. We then remove the battery from the vehicle, as well as airbags and the glass which are safely removed and sent for recycling. This entire process of ours is a regulated and specific process that is conducted by our highly trained staff who always adhere to the guidelines ensuring that every vehicle is recycled safely. Any hazardous parts that cannot be recycled are disposed of safely
8-Your vehicle is then recycled and the DVLA are notified with a Certificate of Destruction completed electronically. (You must also send section 9 of the log book by recorded post to the DVLA)
9-You will then receive a letter in 4-6 weeks confirming your vehicle is de-registered.
10-You can claim back any full months of road tax which were left on the vehicle.
